How are sitcoms like gin?

…besides the fact that they both give me headaches?

Clay Shirky may have succeeded in drawing a very bright line between the people who Get It and the people who don’t in the post-Internet media age. (Hint: Most television producers are on one side of the line; most four-year-olds are on the other.) This was the most fascinating goddamn thing I’ve read in 2008, and I am set on buying his new book.

Exactly what I’ve been saying for a while.

I do watch a fair amount of TV, but I’m extremely selective. And I NEVER _EVER_ “surf”. I have a TiVo, I select shows I want to see, and I watch them.

I’ve had the SAME EXACT thought when it comes to “don’t these guys have anything better to do”. Once I put in the response, “Well, it’s better than watching TV”, suddenly the idea of making a scale model of something from Lord of the Rings (in candy, of course), becomes a lot less silly. AT LEAST THEY ARE DOING SOMETHING!!!
